Transition from School to College
We would like to invite parents and 6th year students to a lecture on the transition from school to college. The talk will be held in Holy Family Secondary School on Tuesday 21st January at 7.30p.m. The guest speaker is Kay Mitchell, Schools' Liaison Office, Admissions Office, NUI Maynooth.
The lecture will cover many areas such as lectures, study facilities, examinations, accommodation/costs, grants, scholarships, social aspects of college life etc.
After the talk there will be an opportunity for people to ask questions or seek clarification on aspects of college life.
The move from 2nd to 3rd level may be difficult for many young people. Drop-out rates are high in the first year. This lecture may offer some useful information and tips for the parents who will be supporting their daughters/sons as they leave the familiarity of secondary school and enter the unknown world of 3rd level education.
