6th Year Transition from school to college

Important announcement for all 6th year pupils and their parents.

Transition from School to College

We would like to invite all 6th year pupils and their parents to a lecture on the transition from school to college. The talk will be held in Holy Family Secondary School on Tuesday 9th December at 7.30p.m. The guest speaker is Kay Mitchell, chief admissions officer from Maynooth University, (NUIM).

The lecture will cover many areas such as lectures, study facilities, examinations, accommodation/costs, grants, scholarships, social aspects of college life etc. Following the talk there will be an opportunity for people to ask questions or seek clarification on aspects of college life.

The move from 2nd to 3rd level can be difficult for many young people. Drop out rates are high in the first year. This lecture may offer some useful information and tips for the parents who will be supporting their daughters as they leave the familiarity of secondary school and enter the unknown world of 3rd level education.
