Holy Family’s School Choir is made up of students from 1st year – 6th year. Any student who enjoys singing is encouraged to join, there is no audition and students are not required to study Music as a subject.

The choir meets weekly for lunchtime rehearsals.

The choir is kept very busy during the academic year. They perform at the school mass at the beginning of the year and they prepare music for the annual Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert.

The choir also supports the cast and chorus of the school show as pit singers every second year. It is encouraging to have singers who want to participate in the school show without the added pressure of performing and dancing on stage.

The choir performs music from a range of genres – from classical to pop, from ethnic to sacred. The choir is divided into three parts: soprano one, soprano two and alto. The social mix within the choir is very important. Senior members are encouraged to work closely with younger members to teach them harmony lines, etc.

The choir is working towards creating sectional leaders, student accompanists and student conductors. The hope is that members of the choir will be equipped with tools to allow the choir to grow and bring the skills they learn with them as they venture out into life beyond school.

We always look forward to welcoming new singers into our choir.
